I'm getting error 0x0800 (I'm guessing it's a hexadecimal error code).

What does it mean?

Nvr mind, stupid printer has a LAN jack on it, and the USB cord fits quite nicely into it.

Now, I'm at a screen with the first 5-8 pixel rows filled in...

I get stuck at that screen. Any ideas?

It's just a screen which is entirely blank, except for a few of the top rows, which are filled in entirely.

Note: I'm using a TI-84+SE (you already know that), OS version 2.43, BOOT code version 1.02. The problem occurs even after a RAM clear, then load of USBDRV8X. The printer itself is a HP Deskjet 6940. The connected computer communicates just fine.

OK, it's the top 7 rows of pixels. All 96*7 pixles are filled in.
