I happen to own several One For All universal remotes, and they are programmable manually and by way of a parallel interface called JP1.
It is possible to add custom protocols and programs to these remotes, and that's what piqued my interest in them. More information on this kind of thing is at hifi-remote.com and their forums.
I happened to make a random number guessing game for the URC-8811 series that would turn on the backlight if you won. It's kind of pathetic, especially with its pseudo-random number generating routine, so there's no need to upload it unless someone has an interest in it. (I'm also just lazy.)
